Nevus Removal
Nevus Removal
Shave excision and surgery are the two main techniques for removing moles. The choice of the appropriate method depends on the type, size, depth and location of the mole, as well as aesthetic or medical reasons.
Shave Excision
This technique is mainly applied to moles that protrude from the surface of the skin. The doctor, using a special tool, carefully removes the affected part of the mole at a level almost flush with the skin.
The method is painless, performed under local anesthesia, requires no stitches, and leaves little to no scarring. It is usually indicated for benign moles with a smooth texture and clear boundaries.
Surgical Removal
In cases where the mole is deeper or there is suspicion of malignancy, surgical removal is chosen. During the procedure, the mole is completely removed along with a small section of healthy tissue, to ensure that it will not reappear.
The wound is carefully sutured and, if necessary, the sample is sent for histological examination. Although it is a more invasive method, it offers absolute safety and permanent removal of the mole.
Aftercare & Recovery
After removal, the doctor provides detailed instructions on how to care for the treated area to prevent scarring or infection.
Healing is typically fast, and the final aesthetic outcome depends on the skin type and the method used.
