Eczema /Atopic Skin
It’s an autoimmune disease that can lead to patches of dry, rough, cracked, and itchy skin and can be caused due to several factors such as genetics, environmental triggers, or stress.
The main types of eczema are:
- Atopic: The most common form of eczema and is more common in children.
- Contact dermatitis: It appears as a red, itchy rash that can be caused by direct contact with a substance or an allergic reaction to it.
- Neurodermatitis: This skin condition is typically characterized by chronic itching or scaling. You may notice raised, rough and itchy areas of skin. It will normally appear on the neck, wrists, forearms, and legs.
- Dyshidrotic eczema: Typically affecting only the hands and feet, this eczema typically lasts for life but can be controlled with treatment.
- Nummular eczema: This is a treatable chronic condition, and it causes coin-shaped spots to appear on the skin. Areas can often be very itchy and well-defined, and they may ooze clear fluid or become dry.
- Seborrheic Dermatitis: Causes an itchy rash with flaky scales and can cause redness on light skin and light patches on darker skin.
- Stasis Dermatitis: A common form of eczema, it develops in people who typically have poor blood flow
